Seemed like such a good idea

The commission that sets legislator salaries fell one vote short of approving a 10% pay cut for the California lawmakers who failed to pass a state budget for so many long months, failed to avert the current deficit, and failed to keep their promise to fund education. The commission may try again to cut the salaries now that Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger filled the three vavancies he had left open on the panel.
