City Attorney Carmen Trutanich enjoyed a split decision this morning, getting a Daily News editorial in favor of his bully approach to governing, and an L.A. Times editorial that rebuked him for his "truculence" in dealing with Staples Center owner AEG and its CEO, Tim Leiweke. Then this afternoon he lost at the City Council, which by unanimously approving signs for the new theaters at AEG's L.A. Live dared Trutanich to back up his threat to prosecute anyone at City Hall who aids and abets the signage. Language from the LAT editorial:

Bombast and egotism are sadly familiar in city government, though Trutanich is plumbing new depths in both.
I guess they like that in the Valley, since the DN piece took the tack that Leiweke has been the bully. Blogdowntown says the City Council was pretty heated toward Trutanich today.
