Former City Councilman Jack Weiss is the latest blogger finding a home on the Jewish Journal website. (There are 25 others.) His first (I think) post recalls when Gene Bartow replaced the legendary John Wooden as basketball coach at UCLA and lasted for just two seasons of unfavorable comparisons. Winning seasons, by the way, but Bartow fled anyway.

Sharp knives await any new Chief’s first, inevitable misstep.

Asking anyone to follow Wooden or Bratton may be an impossible task in the short-run, even though the leading contenders are experienced, well-versed in crime-fighting, and sensitive to issues of diverse communities.

Weiss, an ex-prosecutor and former chair of the Council's Public Safety Committee, offers the next chief some key steps to take — each of them "unpopular with an important constituency."

Among the other blogs: Jonathan Kirsch on books, editor Rob Eshman on food, 24/7 anti-PCers David Lehrer and Joe Hicks and the one and only God Blog.
