Today's handicapping in Sacramento is that Assemblyman John Pérez may have the votes to be elected Speaker, with Kevin de León alive in the race too. Pérez, the Democratic caucus leader and a cousin of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, would be the first openly gay Speaker. Sacto Bee, SF Chronicle blog
