Obama coming to L.A. to raise cash Aug. 16

President Obama will return to Los Angeles in two weeks for a Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee fundraiser at the home of John Wells, says Ted Johnson at Variety's Wilshire & Washington blog. Wells was executive producer of "The West Wing" and "ER" and is currently president of the Writer's Guild. Obama was here in April for a fundraiser in Exposition Park, but this will be his first on behalf of the Democrats in Congress since White House press secretary Robert Gibbs "rankled House Democrats by suggesting they could lose their majority," as Politico puts it. It will be the usual cocktail reception and more exclusive dinner for higher rollers, with the prices set at $2,500 per person and $30,400 for co-hosts.
