City will rent out its own damn golf carts

After wallowing in the politics of golf carts for seven years, the Recreation and Parks commission voted Wednesday to cancel its search for a new golf cart concessionaire at city courses and will use department employees. Which is what Service Employees International Union Local 721 wanted all along. But which also probably means that the incumbent concessionaire, J.H. Kishi Co., will be around awhile longer — since the city's workers don't really know that much about the golf cart rental business.
