Sarah Spitz gets a sendoff from KCRW

Sarah-spitz-plants.jpgSarah Spitz, the longtime KCRW producer, voice and spokeswoman, was feted at The Rose Cafe in Venice for her years of service to the station (starting as a volunteer, like so many) and her impending retirement. In a note posted on the KCRW members blog, she writes: "I have always defined myself by my identification with KCRW. Ruth’s retirement and my mother’s passing last year have made me look inward to see who’s there. I am off to grow food, preserve it, to share with and teach others how to do the same — how to be more self-reliant and self-sustaining...." She explains more over there. Ruth is Ruth Seymour, the longtime KCRW general manager who stepped down last year.

Add KCRW: Saul Gonzalez interviews Mona Shadia, the new Muslim culture columnist in Orange County we introduced to you last week. Her second Muslim Girl in O.C. column is up now, about the TV show "All-American Muslim."
