Overheard and worth repeating

Observed by LA Observed contributing writer Ellen Alperstein at the Santa Monica Trader Joe’s

A young, uniformed L.A. County firefighter shopping for the station’s groceries stopped his cart in front of the bottled drinks aisle. He retrieved his phone from his pocket, dialed a number and asked the respondent, “Was that organic tea with lemonade or green tea with lemonade?”

Plus LA Observed contributing writer Bob Timmermann, who is a reference librarian at the Central Library in downtown, tweeted over the weekend:

It has finally happened. A patron came to the Science Department looking for "To Kill a Mockingbird." Because it's about birds, isn't it?
