Snow weekend in the Sierra Nevada

Roger Vargo of Explore Historic California sent word that snow was falling last night in Bodie, the 19th century mining town that's now a state historic preserve at 8400 feet elevation in the Eastern Sierra near Bridgeport. "Happy Memorial Day Weekend," he observes.

The Tioga Road across the Yosemite high country closed briefly due to snow, but Yosemite National Park tweeted this afternoon that the road had reopened for holiday visitors. "Conditions are still very wet and it is lightly snowing in some areas. Use extreme caution while driving."
