Media people notes: Bojorquez, Stanley, The Economist and more

gregory-bojorquez-shooting.jpgPhotographer Gregory Bojorquez tells Kurt Streeter in the LAT that he's still haunted by the wild, bloody scene in Hollywood last December, where he captured the image of dying gunman Tyler Brehm on the pavement as LAPD officers closed in. "I'm proud of what I did, documenting something that probably won't ever be seen again on Sunset and Vine. At the same time, it's awful: an innocent man losing his life like that. I'm not used to seeing stuff like this." Music producer John Atterberry died three days later of wounds in the attack.

  • KUSC's Arts Alive aired a tribute to Chris Stanley, the station's former reporter who died last month after returning to Los Angeles to retire.
  • The family and friends of missing Hollywood executive Gavin Smith have redoubled their search for the husband and father who may have skipped town.
  • The new Los Angeles correspondent for The Economist is Tom Nuttall. He began in June. Andreas Kluth is now the magazine's man in Berlin.
  • Charlie LeDuff, the former New York Times reporter in California who is now a local television reporter in Detroit, golfed his way across the city as a gimmick for a story.
