KUSC will broadcast from the beach on Fridays

kusc-on-the-beach.jpgRich Capparela won't have to drive downtown anymore for his Friday afternoon show on KUSC, the classical music station at 91.5 FM. When the new "KUSC at the Beach" debuts on August 23, the show will air from a studio in his condo with a beach view in Santa Monica. The show will serve as a sort of introduction to the weekend, the station says, with information about concerts and events taking place around Southern California. Capparela's signature “Classical Anti-Road Rage Melody” will still air at 5 p.m. "I believe that there is such a thing as classical music, L.A. style," Capparela says. "We don't take ourselves too seriously in this neck of the woods. At the same time, we are in the middle of a dynamic renaissance for classical music here in Southern California, and I hope that ‘KUSC at the Beach’ will help reflect that vibrancy.”
