The FDA is focusing on Florida and Mexico as the source of that salmonella outbreak that has sickened 228 people in 23 states. No samples have turned up anything so far, but the agency says that at the time of outbreak the vast majority of tomatoes in the U.S. market came from Mexico and central and southern Florida. Tomatoes from California appear to be fine. Mexico has been linked to food contamination before, most recently in 2003 when green onions were linked to a hepatitis A outbreak. (WSJ)
