Tomato cases widen

At last check, 228 people in 23 states - including California - have come down with a rare strain of salmonella tied to contaminated tomatoes. The tomatoes in question are red Roma or red plum, and federal authorities have yet to pinpoint the source of the outbreak (cherry and grape tomatoes and tomatoes with the vine still attached are all considered safe). The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has not yet ruled out Mexico or Baja Mexico as a source of the outbreak. (Fast Food Maven)
