Starbucks lists closures

The coffee chain has taken some heat for not disclosing the locations of the 600 stores it plans to close by early next year. Anyway, California takes what seems to be a big hit - 90 stores. Many of the Socal closures are in more outlying areas (three in Ontario alone), perhaps reflecting the emphasis on stores that were first opened in 2005 or later. That's when the outlying areas were growing like gangbusters. Among the closer-by closures: One in Santa Monica (Lincoln and Montana), one at Crenshaw and Vernon, and one at Vermont and MLK Blvd. Keep in mind that the locations to be closed are generally near other Starbucks (at least that’s what Starbucks says). Here's the full list. A Starbucks spokeswoman told the WSJ that the list was being released "in the spirit of transparency."

The LAT has a map of the closures.
