Preview of new LAT?

Prototypes of the Chicago Tribune redesign, which will be introduced in a few weeks, are making the rounds. They show a three-section paper, with national, world, metro, business and editorial all jammed into the first section. As reported by the Sun-Times, sports and features get their own standalone sections (currently, metro and business have separate sections). There's no telling whether this turns out to be the actual format - an earlier idea to rename the paper the Trib was abandoned. Still, the changes are earthshaking and will no doubt raise concerns in the LAT newsroom, another Tribune Co. paper. The Times is about to undergo its own redesign, and there's been lots of talk about lumping business into one of the other big sections, perhaps sports.
