That's according to the CBS/NYT poll, just out this afternoon. Among likely voters, it's a 53-39 percent edge for Obama, a considerably wider margin than in the tracking polls (they've been in the 6-10 point range). Among independents who are likely voters, the Democratic ticket now leads by 18 points.
*The LAT/Bloomberg poll has Obama up by 9.
