That's for the six-month period ended March 31, a 6.5 percent decline from the like period a year earlier. It's also down from a peak of 1.2 million in 1991. (Sunday was down 7.4 percent to 1,019,388.) Actually, a 6.5 percent circulation decline looks pretty good next to some of the other large dailies around the country: Some examples from the most recent Audit Bureau of Circulations report:
