
The numbers, however, are relatively unchanged - perhaps surprising for a state that supposedly is on the brink of collapse. In the first half of 2009, according to United Van Lines, 51 percent of the California moves involved folks leaving the state. That compares with 50.2 percent for all of 2008. Of the moves in Michigan in the first six month of this year, 70 percent were departures. North Dakota followed at 59.5 percent and then Illinois at 58.3 percent.
