The state's budget proposal is actually made up of 28 separate bills, many of which have not been gone over by lawmakers and some of which barely have been written. Yet the plan calls for a vote later tonight or early tomorrow. What a way to run a government, right? From the LAT:

"I haven't seen some of the bills yet. It's going too fast," said state Sen. George Runner (R-Lancaster) in a phone interview. "There are some very controversial issues and the language is important. We've done some of our worst work when we hurry.''

No doubt there will be some nasty stuff hidden away in the cracks and crevices of this thing.
