Sometimes this city does stuff that's so dumb and irresponsible you just want to scream. Such is the case with the development of three - count 'em three - condo projects near the corner of Sawtelle and Santa Monica boulevards in West L.A. That's right, one of the most congested corridors in the city - pretty much a parking lot after 3 p.m. - and our local officials (and the lobbyists they work for) have chosen to put up yet more condos - and add more cars. But wait! We'll have a subway in 2079!!! CurbedLA has all the gory details, including this sales pitch from one of the project's marketing people:
"Buyers will find the location very appealing--in walking distance to cool restaurants, workout gyms, the Sawtelle corridor with all of the trendy noodle restaurants; Ralphs, the neighborhood market; soon-to-be Trader Joe's on Olympic; Whole Foods on National Boulevard; Century City, Westwood, Beverly Hills and Santa Monica; close proximity to the 405 and 10 Freeways for direct access anywhere; in walking distance and close proximity to places of worships, banks, car washes."
Aren't marketing people amazing?
