Crazy Gideon's closes shop

No more smashing of TVs, it appears. Gideon Kotzer is putting his downtown electronics store up for lease, reports the Downtown News. For those who haven't had the pleasure, Kotzer's schtick is throwing around his merchandise and otherwise acting, well, crazy, in off-hour commercials. "I'm crazy, but I'm not stupid," is one of his gems. (You really need to see the above collection to get a full appreciation.) The paper notes that Kotzer has a history of "going out of business" sales that never lead to an actual shutdown. This time might be different. "I've been in business for 35 years. It's time to retire," he said. The place could be closed by the end of the year.
