The reason has to do with interest rates. If the economy is really back on its feet, it means that the Fed has to start worrying about inflation and that could lead to higher rates. Eventually. The WSJ calls it "a breakdown in key relationships across financial markets." Right at the close, the Dow was up about 22 points.
