A miracle! More money!

MayorAntonioVillaraigosa.jpgToday the mayor is saying that the budget crisis might be averted after all. "My hope is that we are going to have the revenues," Villaraigosa said. "The [City Administrative Office] shared with us today that it may be that we're getting in more revenues than we thought." Huh? How'd that happen? I thought we were headed to two-day-a-week furloughs beginning next week. Comment on kpcc.org says it all:

Am I the only one confused here??? First the DWP agrees to transfer $73M. Then the DWP reneges. The Mayor responds with the immediate demand to shut down city parks and libraries. Only problem is he doesn't have the authority to order a shutdown. Now some kind of revenue just appears and all is well???? And this is after the Mayor has his face on CNN trying to show the world how tough he is. I don't think the Mayor has any clue which end is up.
