*Why government is hopeless

This video of a 58-year-old woman accused of hitting a federal security agent at Bob Hope Airport is one more example. It's getting lots of YouTube play and the narrator neatly describes the action. The woman, who was caring for her 93-year-old mother, denied striking the agent. The incident centers on TSA officers taking away the mother's applesauce, cheese and milk - items that the mother apparently needed for her medical condition.

*A judge today threw out a misdemeanor battery charge against the woman, Nadine Kay Hays. (LAT)
