L.A. labor group looking for trouble

The County Federation of Labor-AFL-CIO, along with religious and community leaders, plan a trip to Arizona on July 29 when the state's new immigration law takes effect. As posted by L.A. Daily, the idea is to dare Arizona authorities to arrest them for not having any ID. "We will challenge Arizona to arrest us for being brown or black, for 'looking suspicious,' for not carrying our 'papers,' and for believing that America is fair, decent, and just," says the Federation. Sounds like a potential circus - and you have to wonder: Doesn't the Federation have more constructive things to do closer to home, what with L.A.'s social safety net in tatters? For the record, Arizona's law forbids racial profiling and doesn't ask cops to stop people simply for appearing suspicious.
