LAT showing bad form - again

The Times finally gets around to running an item on the $1.4-million identity theft case involving OC billionaire Donald Bren - and fails to note that the story was first reported on Sunday by the OC Business Journal. To his credit, OC Register columnist Jon Lansner cited the paper's scoop on Monday (and I followed up with an item later that day after getting it from Lansner). As for the Times, I'm not sure whether this is simple laziness or old-fashioned journalistic arrogance (it's not news until we say so), but at this late date in the paper's decline you'd think that the folks over there would have cleaned up their act. Apparently not.
