Bidding for Bernie Madoff's underwear

slippers.jpgAnd bedroom slippers, and toaster oven and thousands of other everyday items that will be auctioned off this weekend to raise money for victims of the Ponzi crook. They were collected from the drawers and closets of the Madoffs' penthouse apartment on the Upper East Side of Manhattan and their beach house in Montauk, N.Y. From the NYT:

Other notable items include a Steinway & Sons grand piano, which Ms. Crane said the Madoffs used for decoration; a collection of toiletries, including bottles of Neutrogena shampoo, an electric razor and cuticle scissors; and some of Mr. Madoff's more intimate items, including socks (used and new!) and pleated boxer shorts. Yes, pleated.

They're looking to raise $1.5 million at Saturday's auction, a pittance compared with what he stole.
