L.A. firm making its mark on takeovers

Leonard Green's $1.6 billion acquisition of Jo-Ann Stores closely follows the $3 billion deal it cut with TPG Capital for retailer J. Crew. So far this year, the L.A.-based private equity firm has been involved in 15 buyouts. Leonard Green died in 2002, but his namesake firm has continued a long history of investing in retail and consumer brands. Included in its portfolio:
