The 2008 deal was initially valued at $4 billion, but factoring in the subsequent legal costs and writedowns the price tag is up to $30 billion and counting, according to Reuters. The bank still faces all kinds of expensive litigation, including lawsuits filed this week. As CEO Brian Moynihan recently put it on a conference call: "Obviously, there aren't many days when I get up and think positively about the Countrywide transaction."
