Free tickets for James O'Shea breakfast forum

The former editor of the LAT will be talking about the future of newspapers at a Live Talks Business Forum next Wednesday, Sept. 7. Live Talks is an offshoot of the Live Talks Los Angeles series and is being put together by Ted Habte-Gabr. (I'll have free tickets for other speakers in the series.) O'Shea is the author of "The Deal from Hell: How Moguls and Wall Street Plundered Great American Newspapers," which gets into the gory details of how Tribune Co. fell victim to lousy management and the disastrous Sam Zell buyout. He'll be in conversation with Geneva Overholser, director of USC's Annenberg School of Journalism. Forum is at the City Club, 333. S. Grand Avenue. Breakfast is 7:45 and the forum is from 8:15 to 9:15. Click here if you want tickets.
