Still a hassle flying to SF

asiana2.jpgThe LAX flight status board shows both delays and cancellations to SFO, the result of low-lying clouds in the Bay Area, as well as the continued closure of one of the four runways up there. Arrivals had been running up to 90 minutes late this morning and a number of departures were cancelled. Some of the passengers whose flights were cancelled over the weekend are having an especially tough time with re-booking because so many planes this time of year are full. (Airlines generally have lousy contingency plans in getting their passengers re-booked, especially on longer flights, because unlike like the old days, empty planes are not easily put into use.) There's no ETA for the reopening of Runway 28L, which was the site of the crash. Needless to say, you should keep in close contact with your carrier.
