If the Los Angeles Times ran wedding announcements, perhaps the paper's reporters (or their parents) would not feel the urge to declare their marriages in the pages of the New York Times. Or maybe they still would, come to think of it. On this occasion the happy groom is Evan Halper of the Sacramento bureau.

By the way, the New York Times guidelines for submitting photos to go with a wedding announcement include this advice:

Couples posing for pictures should arrange themselves with their eyebrows on exactly the same level and with their heads fairly close together.
