Dodger bidder under investigation

It appears to go back to Alan Casden's contributions in the 2001 mayor's race, when he backed Antonio Villaraigosa, the L.A. Times says. Casden's Beverly Hills offices were searched Thursday by the District Attorney and warrants were served around the city. During the campaign, Jim Hahn's people complained that Casden had made a $100,000 contribution to the state Democratic Party while it was helping Villaraigosa, possibly getting around the city's $1,000 donation limit. It's doubtful that Hahn is pushing the Casden probe, since last year the developer ponied up a hundred grand for Hahn's fight against secession. Maybe it's just bad karma coming after Casden -- he is the Dodger suitor who wants to tear down Dodger Stadium and build a new home for the team near Staples Center.
