Writer sues UCLA rabbi

Freelance writer Rachel Neuwirth has sued rabbi Chaim Seidler-Feller of UCLA Hillel, claiming he attacked and injured her as they argued about Middle East politics following a campus appearance by Alan Dershowitz in October. The Metropolitan News-Enterprise says the suit was filed Thursday in Santa Monica. Neuwirth has written for the conservative Front Page Magazine and ChronWatch. Here are the Jewish Journal stories on the incident.

I agree with Rachel's politics but it is disgusting that she would sue over this. She used the word "capo" on the rabbi, which was disgusting.

Why can't she take her beating like a man? Would a man sue over something like this?

Regrettably, in America, yes.

"Take her beating like a man." That's a beautifully retrograde concept to kick off the morning. Just what we all need: a little more tolerance for a good beating.

Because she isn't a man and the rabbi is, at least theoretically. Luke you are wrong, wrong, wrong about this and you know it.

From what I've heard through friends, there is no evidence of the Rabbi beating her, but several people saw him grab her arm violently. Of course, I wasn't there... does anyone know if it is indeed the case that the beyond-grabbing allegations have no on-the-record witness?

I thought he wasn't allowed to touch any woman, other than his wife? She should have decked him.

When I see you tonight Cathy, I'm going to give you a swift kick over that remark.
