Deputy Mayor Troy Edwards testified before the corruption grand jury yesterday, the Daily News reports. Says the paper's Beth Barrett:

Edwards was a key fund-raiser in Hahn's 2001 mayoral campaign, and -- despite little experience in city government -- was appointed as the mayor's liaison to three of the most influential city departments: Airports, Harbor and Water and Power.

Edwards said Tuesday that he no longer has that responsibility for the Department of Water and Power.

According to sources, District Attorney Steve Cooley's investigation has broadened in recent weeks to include possible links between political fund raising by commissioners, including Airport Commission President Ted Stein, and the awarding of millions of dollars in contracts for work or the promise of contracts on Hahn's proposed $9.1 billion Los Angeles International Airport expansion.

Barrett had a piece yesterday on the grand jury as well.
