McOsker's role on rise?

Mayor Hahn's chief of staff Tim McOsker played a part in last week's resignations by three deputy mayors and is seeing his authority grow, the Business Journal reports in a triple-byline story. The mayor and McOsker both live in San Pedro and met when Hahn was the city attorney (and McOsker was a contract lawyer for the city), the paper says. They bonded in commutes to downtown, and in 1997 Hahn made him chief deputy of the office. Not that McOsker isn't well connected:

Brothers Patrick and Mike McOsker are president and vice president, respectively, of the United Firefighters of L.A. City. A fourth brother, John McOsker, is vice president of the city’s Harbor Area Planning Commission.

The LABJ also continues to stay all over the continuing questions about influence at the city Airport Commission, with a front page story by Howard Fine.
