Deputy mayor Troy Edwards had been Jim Hahn's connection to the airports and harbor commissions, where questions have been raised about a link between campaign donations and the awarding of city contracts. Edwards had testified before at least one of the grand juries looking into possible corruption. Some key city council members had urged Edwards to leave -- and as of April 9 he will, a statement from Hahn's office says. Phil Depoian, an old City Hall hand who worked for Mayor Tom Bradley, will be Hahn's new deputy for dealing with the airport.

* Updates: Sarah Dusseault, the deputy mayor for housing, resigned yesterday. The Times story talks about serious upheaval in the city housing ranks. And there's talk in City Hall that another deputy mayor, Joy Chen, may be leaving shortly. Cleaning house week on the third floor?

** Friday: Front page above the fold in the LAT, with a sidebar by Patrick McGreevy. Two stories also by David Zahniser in the Daily Breeze. Daily News plays it down with one Rick Orlov piece.
