Another LAT defection *

| 4 Comments | 1 TrackBack

This time the buzz is about Michael Cieply, who's apparently leaving the LAT Business section to become film editor at the New York Times. More later...

A little more: Cieply has been an editor-writer on entertainment in the Business section, and had been told to stay out of the LAT building while he pondered the New York Times offer. Today, apparently, he gave the word. At the NYT, Cieply would be reunited with some former colleagues from the late Inside.com, where he was the Los Angeles bureau head. Former Insider Lorne Manly yesterday was named the NYT's media editor (Romenesko has the memo) and another veteran of Inside, David Carr, covers media for the paper.

* And also: Nikki Finke has filed more background on the move at the LA Weekly website (erroneously labeled an exclusive, given that the move was reported here first [since fixed...thanks]).
