Bridging the gap

Out in Sherman Oaks, neighbors are divided against each other over closing a walking bridge across the Los Angeles River that connects Rye Street and Sunnyslope Avenue. Councilwoman Wendy Greuel has sided with the "close" camp and arranged to have city crews blockade the path. Now Bruce Forkush has started RyeStreet.com to slam Greuel, hoping she will change her mind. The Daily News covered the dispute last week, and took a position against Greuel's stance. Downstream a bit in Studio City, meanwhile, a new park along the river is drawing raves.
