Rosendahl victory party

Santa Monica's news website The Lookout attended the election-night party for Bill Rosendahl in a Venice home equipped with a bowling alley in the bathroom, a glass encased showroom for fine automobiles and a ten-foot-long ant farm. The story says Rosendahl owes his election to the Los Angeles City Council in part to Green Party and labor activists from Santa Monica.

"Even though Santa Monica is not a part of this District, we’re all part of this District,” said Rosendahl, who lives in nearby Mar Vista. "We embrace Santa Monica, so let’s love each other and work together"...

Labor coalitions, such as the garment and hotel workers known as Unite Here and Santa Monicans Allied for Responsible Tourism (SMART), deployed close to 85 volunteers from Santa Monica help get-out-the-vote, walking precincts and calling voters, urging them to support Rosendahl.

Rosendahl, who is gay, was conciliatory about opponent Flora Gil Krisiloff, who made a point of mentioning his sexual orientation. "Now is the time to leave all the negativity and animosity behind us," he said. "We’re all one people and I will reach out and embrace everyone who supported Flora in their campaign."
