Not so fast

Martin Ludlow's coronation as labor boss of L.A. County hit a snag when some unions refused to go along. Instead of the 10th district city councilman sailing through at a meeting Monday, two other candidates were nominated. Now an election will be held July 18. The Daily News said the others are Ivan C. Chavez, vice president for political action with the American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees local 2626, and Kevin M. Norte, treasurer of AFSCME local 910. Times story.

Meanwhile: The Ethics Commission staff accused Councilmember Dennis Zine of 23 campaign fundraising violations totaling about $6,500 in donations.
