Book festival adds

Couple of additions to the lineup of LA Observed contributors at this weekend's L.A. Times Festival of Books at UCLA. Veronique de Turenne has been added as moderator of the "First Fiction" panel Saturday at 10 am. And Deanne Stillman will be signing My California from 11 am to noon on Saturday at the Angel City Press booth, where I will be from noon to 2 pm on Saturday and 1 to 3 pm Sunday. Mystery writer Laura Levine, wife of LA Biz Observed editor Mark Lacter, signs books on both days at various locations.

Book prizes: During Times editor Jim O'Shea's introduction at Friday night's L.A. Times Book Prizes, it was gratifying to hear the Royce Hall audience start chattering in recognition when he referenced his memos showing up on a certain unnamed blog. Michael Connelly won the prize in mystery/thriller. Prize winners
