David Zahniser reports in the Times, based on unnamed sources, that the affair between Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Mirthala Salinas "disintegrated" possibly as long ago as September, right about the time her Telemundo career fizzled. They were last seen together in the media in August, when that TMZ video appeared of the couple shopping at the Sherman Oaks Fashion Square. Officially the mayor's office did not address the split, but Deputy Mayor Sean Clegg emailed some boilerplate to Zahniser — and at one Thanksgiving gathering I heard about, a source close to Villaraigosa hinted at dinner that there would be Saturday news of the affair ending. Salinas had no comment to the Times.
