John Rabe and Julian Bermudez

John Rabe, host of "Off-Ramp" on KPCC, hopes to be pretty much first in line for a marriage license Tuesday morning at the Beverly Hills courthouse. Rabe, 42, and Julian Bermudez, 33, a museum curator and art reporter, plan to be married in August at a ceremony in Los Feliz. They became engaged on New Year's Day and had made preparations to get married next year in Montreal, but ditched the runaway production when the Supreme Court ruled that same-sex marriage could go ahead in California starting tonight.

In San Francisco:Longtime gay community leaders Del Martin and Phyllis Lyon, together for more than half a century, plan to get married tonight at San Francisco City Hall.
