Tim McOsker, who was the chief of staff for Mayor James Hahn, is taking a leave from the Los Angeles law office of Mayer Brown to become Senior Director for Development and Provost Initiatives for his alma mater, Notre Dame. That apparently means he'll lead an effort to raise the university's profile on the West Coast. McOsker's daughter attends Notre Dame and the family has long ties there. The job is in L.A., so he posts on Facebook "I get to live in the City I love, with the family I love, and work for the advancement of the university I love."

Noted: Yes, McOsker is the brother of firefighters union chief Pat McOsker, who was on TV all weekend from Chatsworth pitching the union's tale of woe over the city budget.

From the archives: Is that the same McOsker daughter who threw three touchdown passes for Bishop Montgomery High School one Friday night in 2005? * Update: Nope, different daughter.
