Clinton supports Newsom

It's pretty unusual to see a former president make an endorsement for governor so early in the campaign - and there will be those who see Clinton’s decision to side with SF Mayor Gavin Newsom as payback for the bad blood between himself and Jerry Brown during the 1992 race for the White House. Whatever - Newsom gets the endorsement, which may or may not be a big deal as the campaign moves forward. From the LAT:

Tensions in the 1992 race for the Democratic presidential nomination peaked at a debate in Chicago, where Brown accused Clinton of “funneling money to his wife’s law firm for state business.” “I don’t care what you say about me, but you ought to be ashamed of yourself for jumping on my wife,” Clinton snapped, shaking his finger at Brown. “You’re not worth being on the same platform as my wife.”
