MWD, LAT and Marathon Communications

The San Diego editorial writer who is upset that the L.A. Times blew off coverage of the Metropolitan Water District pensions controversy is intrigued by a new angle — that the agency retained Rich Lichtenstein's Marathon Communications to handle the issue. Says Chris Reed:

Perhaps Lichtenstein's role could explain the enduring mystery of the MWD controversy: the fact that the newspaper with the most reason to cover the pension spike ended up writing not one word about it.
