Layoffs begin at LAT

Tina Daunt, the former City Hall reporter for the Los Angeles Times who has been writing the Cause Celebre column about Hollywood politics, posted on Facebook that she felt the axe coming, and then it did: "it's over. it's ok. 20 years was a good run. my head is pounding...going to bed." More expected through the day.

Noted: Former LAT reporter (now author) Scott Martelle, who went through this last year, "urges his former LAT colleagues getting the ax to get in touch -- we have a support group for navigating unemployment, COBRA and the rest of the crap you had deeply hoped you would never have to deal with ..." He's also an organizer of The Journalism Shop, the group of ex-LAT staffers who hung out a shingle for their services.
