Mayor moves Ovrom to Bldg & Safety

Mayor Villaraigosa hit on a way to resolve things at the troubled Department of Building and Safety. He is moving Robert "Bud" Ovrom, his deputy mayor of Economic Development, to be general manager of Building and Safety. The job has been vacant since GM Andrew Adelman got into trouble this past summer. From the release:

With over 30 years of local government expertise, Mr. Ovrom will work to streamline city services to better support the Los Angeles business community and stimulate job creation while protecting the public's safety.

Villaraigosa's officer says he will be announcing a new Deputy Mayor of Economic Development "in the coming weeks."
