List of candidates for March 8 city election

Certified list from the Los Angeles City Clerk is after the jump. It covers city council, school board and community college board races.

LOS ANGELES (December 17, 2010) — Los Angeles City Clerk June Lagmay released today the official list of 52 candidates who have qualified to appear on the ballot for the March 2011 Primary Nominating Election. A random alphabet drawing conducted publicly in the City Council Chamber determined the order in which candidates are listed in each race.

The City Clerk has certified the following candidates to appear on the March ballot in this order:

WRITE-IN CANDIDATES: Any interested individual who wishes to become a write-in candidate may obtain the Declaration of Intention to Become a Write-In Candidate beginning Monday, January 10, 2011. The document must be filed with the Office of the City Clerk - Election Division by Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 5:00 p.m.
To file the Nominating Petition, write-in candidates must either pay a filing fee of $300 or submit valid signatures of at least 500 but no more than 1,000 qualified, registered voters within their district.

The Office of the City Clerk - Election Division administers elections for the City of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Unified School District and the Los Angeles Community College District.
